Vanessa Chartrand, M.Sc.S. (#8924)
It was in grade 9 that Vanessa fell in love with speech therapy. Having received this service, the terms speech and language disorders, echolalia, dyslexia, etc., started buzzing around in her head. Vanessa wanted to combine her love of children with speech therapy.
In 2021, Vanessa graduated from the University of Ottawa with a B.A. in Linguistics and Psychology. In 2024, she obtained her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the same university. With four years’ experience as an interventionist and educational evaluator specializing in learning disabilities, she has a good understanding of children’s specific educational and developmental needs. Her previous professional experience includes speech therapy internships with children, notably at the Eastern Ontario Health Unit and the Children’s Rehabilitation Program of Eastern Ontario. These opportunities enabled her to acquire practical skills and in-depth knowledge of the challenges children face in learning and communicating. She also had the enriching opportunity to lead a summer camp for children with autism spectrum disorder, an experience that deeply strengthened her passion for supporting and accompanying children in their overall development.
Combining her academic knowledge with her practical experience in educational intervention and speech therapy, she is determined to offer high-quality services and make a positive difference in the lives of the children she supports. Her goal is to actively contribute to their personal and academic development, providing them with the tools they need to overcome obstacles and succeed in their educational journey.
