Sophie Labossière, M.Erg.Aut.
Sophie has been a member of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario since 2016 (#G1610507). She offers bilingual services (French or English) to a varied clientele (children, adolescents, adults and seniors). Her academic career has led her to gain experience with a wide range of pediatric and adult clients suffering from neurological, mental, physical and cognitive disorders. Her master’s thesis focused on the evaluation of a fall risk reduction program for seniors.
Her professional career has also been marked by a variety of experiences with different populations. Sophie has worked with children, adults and seniors from diverse ethnic, cultural and demographic backgrounds who experience one or more health problems. She uses evidence-based interventions in occupational therapy, adhering to a client-centered and trauma-sensitive approach. She helps her clients meet their physical, mental and cognitive health needs, adapt their way of thinking and acting, optimize their autonomy in all spheres of their lives, and improve their overall state of well-being. Sophie offers a wide range of occupational therapy services in areas such as sensory information processing, emotion and behavior regulation, pain management, communication and interpersonal relationships, personal care, recreation and productivity.
In 2021, her passion for occupational therapy, health care improvement and health leadership led her to pursue her academic path. Sophie is a final-year candidate for a PhD in Rehabilitation Science and Health Leadership at Queen’s University. Her thesis focuses on the co-design of a cognitive health program for community-dwelling seniors.
In addition to providing clinical services, Sophie enjoys contributing to the training of future occupational therapists and participating in professional development activities. Developing therapeutic groups and programs in occupational therapy and health is a passion for her.
Sophie looks forward to getting to know you and helping you improve your daily functioning and well-being.
