Aude Martel (Currently in maternity leave)

Aude Martel is a social worker and a member of the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (CASWE). Ever since she can remember, she has been interested in people and their lives. It was her desire to help others, her thirst to understand them, and her desire to see them develop fully that led her to social work.

Her academic and professional career, marked by experiences in community and school settings, led her to specialize in working with children, youth and famili

She focuses on working with children, adolescents and their families to help them better understand the challenges they face, and then collaborating with them and everyone important in their lives to implement strategies and interventions that meet their own needs.

She listens without judgment, questions to understand, guides and accompanies, encourages and reinforces, and raises awareness. “Collaboration to better help” is at the heart of her practice; she also works in conjunction with other health and social service professionals to optimize successes.

In intervention, she favours an integrative approach that is adapted and centred on the needs of families, inscribed in a systemic framework and based mainly on cognitive-behavioural and person-centred therapies. This vision allows her to place families at the center of her work and to adapt her interventions, tools and strategies according to the experiences and needs of children, adolescents and families. Aude’s practice includes acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, joint problem solving and family therapy.

Aude offers interventions for anxiety, depression, self-esteem, emotion management, grief, identity/sexuality issues, family relationships and communication.

Because mental helth is important:

To take care of herself and her mental health, Aude enjoys time with family and friends, relaxing in front of a good TV show, and rejuvenation in the outdoors and nature.
